January’s Wine of the Month

2016 Château Grand Mazerolles
Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux

Bordeaux Gold Medal
Bruxelles Gold Medal

0.75 l

Origin:   France

The wine has a beautiful deep garnet colour with ruby reflections.
The nose is exceptionally fruity, with blackcurrants and blackberries dominating.
On the palate, it is round and generous, showing supple tannins. Notes of blackcurrants intermingle with flavours of red fruits in the fine and delicate finish.

Pairs well with:

  • Grilled rib steak with sauce béarnaise
  • Braised veal shank
  • Confit duck breast
  • Fine charcuterie
  • Camembert and Saint-Nectaire cheeses

The Château's vineyard was created by the Arnaud family before the French Revolution in 1789. It is located on the best terroirs of the appellation. The owners are committed to producing top-quality wines. To achieve this goal, the vineyard is cultivated according to traditional methods: the grass is left to grow freely in every other row to limit the vigour of the plants, and the vines are thinned out in summer to control the yield. Similarly, the harvest is done manually to optimize the berry sorting.
