The wine of the month November
Fonte de Ouro
2016 Dão region red wine
Varietals: Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Jaen
2018 Grand Gold Medal Brussels World Competition.
This wine is a deep red colour, slightly purplish at the edges. The nose has a bouquet of fresh black fruit and subtle fragrances of mild spices, finishing on a juicy elderflower note.
On the palate, the attack is lively and extremely pleasant, at the outset it develops around the elegant, polished tannins of tiny black fruit; blueberries and blackcurrants are present until the mid palate but then make way for powerful well-ripened fruit. This gradual change continues for a few seconds until the finish.

Boas Quintas was set up in 1991 in the famous Dão winegrowing area by Nuno Cancela de Abreu. A well-respected oenologist and representing the 4th generation of a family with a tradition of winemaking and farming dating back over 130 years, Cancela de Abreu decided to devote all his experience and knowledge of viticulture and oenology to create his own project and this has led him to produce top-quality wines full of character and personality. He bases his philosophy on diversity, and this is why he ensures that each of his wines has its own individual nature and identity.
