Intense and fruity on the nose, conjuring up the large juicy cherries, jammy red fruit and spicy notes found on the palate.
Maturation for five months in French and American medium toast wooden barrels produces a lightly-oaked wine, which reveals decent notes of cinnamon and vanilla.
Very juicy and easy-to-drink, with its soft tannins and pleasantly lingering finish, this is a finely-balanced wine.

Damien Lassance, our expert, talks about this wine
Monte Tessa grew out of age-old tradition and a cult of love for mother earth: Puglia is an authentic crossroads of Mediterranean cultures. Monte Tessa works with respect for both tradition and innovation, a combination which can be seen in its production methods and the commitment of those who strive daily to give their very best to their motherland.
The subsoil’s cold limestone supports the red soil, giving the vines the energy and natural environment they need to maintain their roots at an optimum temperature, while on the surface the vines are warmed by the hot southern Italian sun and refreshed by breezes coming from the sea which lies very close to this wonderful land.
Monte Tessa 1890 Primitivo combines flavour and mild fragrances, similar to those of the soil from which this wine comes.
