The wine of the month - April
2016 Château Négrit
2018 Bordeaux Gold Medal
A deep dark, almost black colour with purple reflections, proof of its youth. This wine has a very pure nose, developing aromas of ripe fruit and merging with spicy notes.
On the palate, this wine has a full, velvety body; its fat, round tannins give it plenty of structure. To fully enjoy this wine we advise that you decant it one hour before serving it at a temperature of 17-18 °C.
Information and advices:
Pairs well with:
• Slow-cooked (7 hours) shoulder of lamb
• Veal chops in a cream sauce
• Stuffed pigeon
• Brie de Meaux, Saint-Albray, Livarot, Mimolette
The Château Négrit estate, where aged merlot vines over 35 years old (90%) thrive alongside some lovely cabernet vines (10%), covers the southern slopes of a marvellous clay-limestone hillside in the ‘Négrit’ area.
Planted in high density, the vines are carefully tended by the Lagardère family, which has owned the vineyard for three generations. The wines they produce bear worthy testament to all the hard work carried out on this remarkable terroir.
