Cheeseburger with gherkins and sauerkraut

Ingredients:

500
g minced meat
300
g sauerkraut (drained)

tbsp mustard

tsp paprika

slices of bacon

slices of Cheddar cheese

head of cos lettuce

burger rolls
12
slices of Hengstenberg burger gherkins
Vegetable oil for frying
Ustensiles
Large mixing bowl, small pan,
large frying pan, kitchen paper,
plates, aluminium foil

Mix the minced meat, mustard, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl and shape into roughly evenly sized burgers.

Heat the sauerkraut in a pan over a low heat for about 5-7 minutes. Cover and remove from the heat.

Fry the bacon in a large frying pan over a medium heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side until crispy. Place on some kitchen paper on a plate to drain off excess fat.

Fry the burgers in a little vegetable oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side.

As soon as the burgers are done, top them with slices of Cheddar cheese. Put on a plate, cover with aluminium foil and leave to rest for about 3-5 minutes

Wash and dry the lettuce. Fry the burger rolls in a little vegetable oil in a clean frying pan over a medium heat for about 60-90 seconds to brown them. Mix together ketchup and mayo and spread over the bottom half of the roll. Then layer the burger, lettuce, sauerkraut, bacon and gherkins on the bottom half of the roll and finish off with the top half.
